ESIC Recruitment 2019: Vacancy Details

The next important detail you must have before you start applying is the category wise vacancy details. As a whole, there are 581 vacancies in the post of Social Security Officer/ Manager GR-II/ Superintendent.

Number of vacancies for the candidates from unreserved categories- 294

For SC Candidates- 82

Vacancy Reserved For ST Category- 22

For Other Backward Casts- 141

Ex. Servicemen- 49

There are separately 19 vacancies reserved for the Physically Challenged candidates.

ESIC SSO Recruitment: Pay Scale

The employees will be paid as the revised pay as per 7th Central Pay Commission for the post is Level- 7 of Pay Matrix
(Civilian employees) with Entry Pay Rs 44900/-, replaced against Pay Band Rs. 9300-
34800/- with Grade Pay Rs. 4600/- of 6th Central Pay Commission.

Along with the salary, they will be also eligible for DA, HRA, and Transport Allowance and other allowances as per the rules.

ESIC Recruitment 2019: Eligibility Criteria

You have to check the eligibility criteria before you apply for the desired post. Educational Qualification

To apply for the post of Social Security Officer in Employee’s State Insurance Corporation you need to possess a graduate degree in any discipline or equivalent from a recognized University or Institution. However, candidates with a degree in commerce, Law, or Management will get preferences.

Along with a degree, you must have the working knowledge of computer including use of Office Suites and Database.

The Desirable EXperience for the post: Three years’ service in a Government Organization or Corporation or Government Undertaking or Local Body or Scheduled Bank etc.


You need to be a citizen of India or in other cases,

  • Citizen of Nepal
  • A Citizen of Bhutan or,
  • A Tibetan Refugee who came over India, before the 1st January 1962 with the wish of settling in India permanently.

Besides, the above mentioned another case which will be regarded as eligible is,

A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African
Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and
Zanzibar ), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.


The minimum of an aspirant has to be 21 years to apply for the post. The maximum age limit is 27 years as on 05.10.2019. However, the reserved category candidates will get relaxation in maximum age. Age relaxation for different categories are as follows,

  • For SC/ST Categories- 5 years
  • Other Backward Casts- 3 years
  • For Physically Challenged Candidates,
    • Unreserved- 10 years
    • OBC- 13 years
    • SC/ST- 15 years
  • For Ex-Servicemen,
    • Unreserved- 3 years
    • Other Backward Casts- 6 years
    • SC/ST- 8 years
  • Government employees who have provided service for at least 3 years will also get age relaxation. The upper age limit for them is as follows 40 years for the unreserved category, 43 years for OBC, and 45 years for SC/ST candidates.

ESIC Recruitment 2019: Exam Pattern & Syllabus

There will be three phase selection process for the post of Social Security Officer. The first Phase is the Preliminary Examination, the second phase is the Main Examination, the third and final phase will be the Computer Skill Test and Descriptive Test.

Phase I: Preliminary Examination

There will be 100 objective type multiple choice questions each carrying 1 marks. The following table will give you an idea of the number of questions from each section and duration.

The phase I examination is qualifying in nature. The marks will be considered only as of the qualifying for the second phase examination. Therefore, the marks will not be reckoned for the final merit list.

There is negative marking, for each wrong answer 0.25 marks will be deducted from the total marks.

Phase II: Main Examination

In the Phase II Main Examination, you will have to face 150 questions. The full marks for this paper will be 200. You will get 2 hours to complete the paper. The table given below can give you a brief idea.

Marks secured by the candidates in the Phase II examination will be considered for the final selection. There will be negative marking in the second phase as well. One-fourth of the marks assigned for the question will be deducted from the total marks for each wrong answer.

Phase III: Computer Skill Test & Descriptive Test

Phase III examination consists of a computer skill test and descriptive test. The computer skill test carries 50 marks. 30 minutes will be given to perform the following tests,

  • Preparation of two PowerPoint Slides – 10 Marks
  • Typing matter on Microsoft Word with formatting- 20 Marks
  • Preparation Of table on MS Excel with use of Formulae- 20 Marks

The Descriptive paper will be in the English Language. You have to write an Essay along with a Letter.

Marks obtained in the computer skill test and descriptive test will be qualifying in nature. Hence, marks obtained in this test will not be considered at the time of preparing the final merit list.

ESIC Recruitment 2019: Application Fees

The application fee is Rs. 500/- for the post of Social Security Officer. Whereas the candidates from the reserved category will get a fee exemption of 50%.

The SC, ST, PWD, Departmental Candidates, Female Candidates, and Ex-Servicemen will have to pay only Rs. 250/- as the application fees.
