Guys, make a note now. You need to register online by visiting the official website. According to the IBPS PO Notification, there will be a 3-tiered selection process that consists of Prelims, IBPS PO Mains and personal interview. The first two processes will be conducted online. You have to pass each tier to get shortlisted for the next process. For your information, the final selection will be based on Mains and Interview merit.

Application Process

You need to register firstly, to proceed with the further selection process. After registering, you need to put your login details to get the application form. Then, put your personal details there, followed by the scanned copy of your recent photograph and sign. After that, you have to submit the application fee. Else, your application will be rejected.

Application Fee

IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria – All the General and OBC category candidates have to pay Rs 600/- as the application fee

An application fee for the reserved category candidates like, SC, ST, PWD is Rs 100/-

Vacancy Details

Each year more than 20 lakh aspirants appear for this IBPS PO Examinations. So, undoubtedly you can say that- the competition is very high. As per the IBPS PO Notification says, the vacancy number of this year is 4252.

So, 4252 vacant posts are going to be filled by the end of this year. And candidates are going to be recruited in the post of Probationary Officer(PO) and Management Trainee(MT).

IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria – 2018-2019

If you want to apply for IBPS PO then you must satisfy the eligibility criteria. Else, you can’t apply for the vacant posts.

Nationality / Citizenship of Applicants:

If you are applying for the IBPS PO then you must hold one of the following citizenship,

  • You have to be a citizen of India
  • Or you have to be a subject of Nepal or Bhutan
  • Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of the permanent settlement will be eligible for the examination
  • Person of Indian Origin (PIO), who have migrated from neighbor countries like, Burma, Pakistan, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, etc; with the intention of permanent settlement in India will be eligible for this post

Whoever belongs to the reserved category, must have the category certificate issued by Govt of India.

Age & Age Relaxation

Your age should not be less than 20 years or more than 30 years to be eligible for this IBPS PO post.

However, there is some age relaxation for the reserved category candidates. Look below for the complete information.

  • Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) category candidates- 5 years
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC Non-Creamy Layer)- 3 years
  • Persons with Disabilities (PWD)- 10 years
  • Ex-Servicemen (Army personnel)- 5 years
  • Widows/Divorced Women- 9 years
  • Persons with Domicile of Jammu &Kashmir during the period of 1-1-1980 to 31-12-1989- 5 years
  • Persons affected by 1984 riots- 5 years
  • Regular Employees of Union Carbide Factory, Bhopal retrenched from service(for MP state Only)- 5 years

Educational Qualification

If you want to be eligible for the post of IBPS PO then, you have to hold the Graduation Degree in any stream, i.e BA, B.Com, B.Sc, B.Tech or something equivalent. Your degree must be from any discipline from a University recognized by the Government of India. If you have a degree that is equivalent to graduation, from any university or institute that is recognized by the Central Government, you will be also eligible for this examination.

You must possess a valid mark sheet or degree certificate that certifies that you are a graduate on the day you register for this exam, and must indicate the percentage of marks obtained in Graduation while registering for the IBPS Bank-PO examination.

IBPS PO Salary

You should have computer literacy, as you must have the working knowledge of computer systems that are necessary for this job. Along with that, you have to give the IBPS PO exam in online mode, so you must have the minimum knowledge of the computer.

The required knowledge of the language is verbal and written proficiency in the official language of the State/UT. You must be able to read, write and speak the language.

IBPS PO Exam Pattern

IBPS had made some changes in the exam pattern of the examination of Probationary Officer. They have introduced separate sectional timing for each section in the preliminary exam. The selection process will be based on the online written examination in two parts: Tier 1 or IBPS Preliminary Exam and Tier 2 or IBPS PO Mains Exam; followed by a face-to-face interview process.

IBPS PO Prelims Exam Pattern

The total duration of the IBPS PO Preliminary examination will be 1 hour. 20 minutes will be given for each of the tests. The exam will be conducted online. 100 questions will be there and the total marks will be 100. The negative marking for, each wrongly answered question will be 0.25 marks. You have to clear the cut-off in all these three sections to qualify for the IBPS PO Main exam.

IBPS PO Mains Exam Pattern

The IBPS PO Mains exam is also conducted online. You have to answer the questions from five sections. The total marks will be 225 and the total number of questions will be 155. You have to complete it within 3 hours. IBPS will be conducting a descriptive paper in its mains exam in order to select the candidates on the post of the Probationary Officer.

You have to attempt the sections on the basis of the serial number and have to submit the paper within time. You have to clear both of the Preliminary and Mains examination to proceed toward the next stage- Interview Process.

You have to qualify in this IBPS PO Mains examination to go for the next IBPS PO Interview.

IBPS PO Interview

As you already know that, if you qualify in the IBPS PO Mains you will be called for the face-to-face interview. A maximum of 100 marks is allotted for this interview process. If you want to qualify in this examination then you have to get at least 40% marks. And, 35% marks is for the SC, ST, OBC, and PWD category candidates.

The interview process is going to last for 15 or 20 minutes. A panel of bank officials will ask you some questions and you have to answer it.

The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks you get in the IBPS PO Mains examination and interview.

The penalty for Wrong Answers

If you give any wrong answer in the objective tests in both of the Prelims or Mains exams then, there will be a penalty for your wrong answer. However, try to keep those questions unanswered, about which you are not completely sure.

There are some criteria to calculate the score for the IBPS PO Examination.

Criteria for obtaining the final score

  • Whatever marks you get in the Preliminary Examination(Tier-I), that will not be considered at the time of calculating the final score
  • Only the score of IBPS PO Mains will be added for calculating the final result
  • It’s mandatory to clear all the phases of the selection
  • The ratio of CWE Main exam and interview for final merit list will be 80:20 respectively
