Each year a number of youngsters like you get the scope to serve the Indian Railway. As the board adds huge strength to their Constable and Sub-inspectors posts. However, the last notification regarding the vacancy has released on 31st May 2018 and the submission of application starts on 1st June.

Application Fee

Apply now for the exam, by visiting the official page. But make sure that you complete the process of application by making the payment. Else, your form will be considered as incomplete.

  • For the General and OBC category candidates, the application fee is- Rs 500/-
  • For the Reserved category candidates(SC/ ST/ Ex-Servicemen/ Female/ EBC Category) the application fee is- Rs. 250/-

RPF Recruitment Eligibility Criteria 2018

If you want to sit on the Railway RPF Exams then you must fulfil some criteria. From age to education- there are certain limits that shouldn’t exceed. Else, you won’t be eligible for the Railway police Fore. Look below to know it all,

First of all, you have to be a citizen of India to go for this Railway RPF exams.

If you want to be eligible for the post of constables the minimum age limit for that is, 18 years and the maximum age limit is 25 years.


For the post of Sub-Inspector the minimum age of the aspirants should be 20 years and the maximum age limit is 25 years.

Age Relaxation

  • The SC/St category candidates have an upper age relaxation of 5 years
  • For OBC category candidates this age relaxation is 3 years
  • And the PWD candidates will have an age relaxation of 10 years

Railway RPF Exams- The Exam Pattern

The selection process will be conducted by depending on 4 phases, as in- you have to clear four exams to get the post. Look below for more details.

Phase 1: CBT
Phase 2: PET
Phase 3: PMT
Phase 4: Document Verification


This is the first phase of the four phases. In this phase, you have to answer 120 marks question within 90 minutes.

  • From the General awareness portion, 50 questions will be there and the total marks of the question will be 50
  • the arithmetic portion will have 35 questions and the maximum number is 35
  • And, 35 questions of 35 marks will be provided from the General Intelligence & Reasoning portion

There will be negative marking- 1/3rd marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. No marks will be deducted for the unanswered questions.


The second phase is the Physical Efficiency Test. And, it’s mandatory for all the candidates to pass this examination. Only then you will be eligible for other processes of RPF 2018 Exam.


For male candidates;

  • You have to run 1600 meters within 5 min 45 sec
  • Have to pass the long jump test of 14 feet and the high jump test of 4 feet

For female candidates;

  • You have to run 800 meters within 3 min 40 sec
  • Have to pass the long jump test of 9 feet and the high jump test of 3 feet


For the female candidates;

800 meters run within 4 min and a long jump of 9ft, high jump of 3 ft

For male candidates;

1600 meters run within 6min 30 sec and, 12 long jumps, 3ft 9 inch high jump


After the PET test, you have to qualify the Physical Measurement Test. Have a look at the criteria now.

For both Constable and Sub-Inspector posts

UR and OBC category candidates

  • Hight should be 157cm to 165cm
  • The chest should be 80cm to 85cm (for male candidates only)

SC and ST category candidates

  • Hight should be 152cm to 160cm
  • The chest should be 76.2cm to 81.2cm (for male candidates only)

For other category candidates like Gorkhas, Dogras, Garhwalis, Marathas, Kumaonese and others specified by Govt.

  • Hight should be 155cm to 163cm
  • The chest should be 80cm to 85cm (for male candidates only)

Document Verification

This is the final stage. Once you pass all the three phase you have to go for the document verification process. The board will contact you to verify your documents. if you get shortlisted then you should produce the NOC from the employer on the date of your DV failing which will cancel your candidature.
