Nationality / Citizenship

You should be one of these following to be eligible for the SBI PO Recruitment process.

  • Citizen of India or subject of Nepal/Bhutan
  • If you are a Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement then you will be eligible if you have the certificate of eligibility issued by the Govt of India
  • If you are a person of Indian Origin (PIO) who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Vietnam or East African countries of Zaire, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Ethiopia, Malawi, with the intention of permanent settlement in India then you will be eligible only when you can show the eligibility certificate issued by the Govt of India

Age Limit & Age Relaxation

You will be allowed to go for the SBI PO examination only when your age is not less than 21 years and not more than 30 years.

Though there is some age relaxation in the upper age limit for the reserved category candidates according to the Government rules.

Educational Qualification


Graduation DegreeThe eligibility criteria for the SBI exam is graduation degree in any of the streams such as B.Com, BA, BSc, B.Tech, etc., from a University or similar board recognized by the Government of India. Who possesses same qualification from the university recognized by the Central Government is also eligible to apply for this exam
Candidates should have a valid Mark-sheet / DegreeCertificate which supports that you are graduate on the day you were registered for the exam.

SBI PO Prelims Exam Pattern

SBI PO Preliminary Examination is of one-hour duration. The examination mode will be online. You have to answer the questions from 3 sections. 100 questions will be there in total with a maximum score of 100 marks. There will be negative marking for each wrong answer- 0.25 marks will be deducted. You have clear the sectional cut-off to qualify and go for the next phase- SBI PO Main Examination.

SBI PO Mains Exam Pattern

SBI PO Mains Exam consists of 2 portions; Objective Test and the Descriptive Test. Both of these exams will be conducted online. 200 marks will be allotted for the objective portion and 50 marks will be allotted for the descriptive portion. You won’t get any time between these two examinations. As soon as you complete the objective test you have to start with the next one.

Objective Test

You will get 3 hours as a whole to complete a paper with total marks 200. 4 sections will be there and a separate time will be provided for each section. You have to secure passing marks to qualify for the next stage.

Descriptive Test
