What are Prepositions

Prepositions are those words, which show the relationship of Nouns (or Pronouns) with the other words in the sentence. Prepositions are used before Nouns (or Pronouns) in the sentence.

From

From is used to refer to the location of something i.e. the place from where something starts, the time of the beginning of something, the origin of something. From is used to refer to the change in something. From is also use to refer to the distance between two places.

Location:

The train comes from Chandigarh.
The Sun rises from the east.
The water in the river comes from the mountains.
He started at 06:00 AM from his home.
I bought this umbrella from Shimla.

Time

The dinner will start from 07:30 PM.
The new rates will be implemented from 1st April.
I have not seen this movie from the beginning.
The conference will start from 10:00 AM.
The movie is shown from 09:30 to 12:30 in the evening.

Origin

Where do you come from?
I didn’t expect this from him.
This shirt is imported from USA.
I studied this theory from the Shapiro’s Book.
Where did the life on The Earth come from?

Change

My waist has increased from 32 to 38 inches in last 3 years.
She has been promoted from Assistant Manager to Manager this year.
Gradually, the relation between them changed from love to hate.
Regular exercise reduced his weight from 95 to 80 KG.
Our aim is to convert the things from better to the best.

Distance

Jaipur is 268 kilometers from Delhi.
We are 200 kilometers east from home.
My office is 11 kilometers from my home.
The moon is 3,84,400 kilometers from the Earth.
