What are Nouns?

Noun is the part of speech, which names a Person, Place or a Thing. It means the words, which are used to tell the name of a Person, Place or Thing are called Nouns.

Common nouns refer to the entire class of the names of the Persons, Places and Things. Following are some examples of Common Nouns:

Common Nouns referring to the entire class of Persons:
Father, Mother, Man, Woman, Boy, Girl, Salesman, Businessman, Student, Teacher, Minister, Singer, Dancer, Musician, Magician, Waiter, Driver etc.

Common Nouns referring to the entire class of Places:
Restaurant, Hotel, Coffee Shop, Park, Zoo, Lake, City, State, Country, Continent, Planet etc.

Common Nouns referring to the entire class of Things:
Table, Chair, Book, Pen, Pencil, Computer, Television, Radio, Car, Train, Shoes, Shirt etc.
